You state that organic apples save 27 sick days per hectare per year. How is that number obtained?

The cover of the report "True Cost Accounting for Food, Farming and Finance" and the True Cost flyers for Argentinean apples state that organic apples save 27 sick days per hectare per year. That number is obtained as follows. The modelling gives a result for Hugo Sanchez’ organic apples of € 0,19 cost advantage per kilo, in terms of DALY’s (Disability Adjusted Life Years, see elsewhere). Per hectare of orchard (yielding 25,000 and 30,000 kilo per hectare respectively for organic and conventional production)  the difference is € 5,755.-. The economic value of a DALY, which stands for a lost year, is € 77,000,-. So € 5,755.- is the equivalent of 27.2 days. See also: How does Nature & More calculate the true costs?
